Your role on our team:The Financial Analyst is an integral contributor to various the communications produced by the external reporting team for the publicly listed Minto Apartment Real Estate Investment Trust (thequot;REIT quot;). Reporting to the Manager of External Reporting, the Financial Analyst will be responsible to produce accurate and timely financial information for monthly flash reports, financial statements prepared in accordance with IFRS as well as other forms of discussion and analysis.In this role, you will:
  • Develop a clear understanding of the strategic direction of the REIT and provide insight on the integration of that plan within the day-to-day operations;
  • Accurate and timely completion of monthly, quarterly and annual financial close procedures including preparation of consolidation entries;
  • Aid in preparation of quarterly consolidated financial statements and Management #39;s Discussion and Analysis including preparation and review of the required supporting schedules and analyses;
  • Provide key input on monthly and quarterly reporting packages for the REIT executives and Board of Trustees;
  • Provide balance sheet and income statement analysis based on astute understanding of operations;
  • Assist with the review and analysis of supporting documentation and deliverables;
  • Liaise with external auditors to finalize audits and reviews;
  • Work on ad hoc analysis and special projects as required.
We would like you to have:Experienceamp; Education:
  • Undergraduate university degree in Accounting or Finance;
  • Obtained or working toward professional accounting designation;
  • 2+ years of progressive experience in financial analysis and/or accounting.
Specialized Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
  • Working knowledge of IFRS and demonstrated ability to apply IFRS and regulatory knowledge to the review of financial documents;
  • Experience with ERP systems (specifically Yardi), reporting and collaboration tools (OneStream, PowerBI, and Workiva) is considered an asset;
  • Strong Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint) skills;
  • Enjoy a fast-paced work environment while delivering high-quality financial information, communications and analysis;
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and adapt quickly to a changing environment while meeting deadlines;
  • Ability to establish working relationships at all levels within the Finance department and across the organization.
