For more information, follow Telesat on X and LinkedIn or visit www.telesat.comAs a Bus Electrical Engineer in electrical subsystems, the incumbent will providetechnical expertise for the Telesat Lightspeed spacecraft procurement. This includes the oversight of satellite electrical and attitude control subsystems, design evaluation and critique, monitoring of production and integration and test and participation in launch campaigns and in-orbit commissioning.MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide technical expertise in areas of satellite bus subsystems with an emphasis on electrical subsystems including power, attitude control, launch vehicle interface, TT amp;C and propulsion on Telesat Lightspeed and other programs.
  • Lead or assist in troubleshooting problems with design and/or test of spacecraft and launch vehicle electrical subsystems.
  • Lead or assist in areas of spacecraft subsystems specification and testing during bid evaluation and contract negotiations.
  • Interface directly with peer Contractor engineering staff to understand and resolve design, production or test issues.
  • Prepare and present detailed technical reports/presentations to in-house and Customer engineering and/or technical management.
  • Analyze design review packages and actively participate in design review meetings.
  • Identify areas of potential risk and recommend appropriate preventative actions.
  • Effect design, test, schedule and cost trade-offs advantageous to the program(s).
  • Participate in Launch Vehicle Interface Meetings and monitor launch vehicle interface activities.
  • Witness and evaluate unit and subsystems testing and satellite level assembly, integration and test, particularly environmental performance tests.
EDUCATIONamp; EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
  • Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical or Aerospace Engineering is required.
  • The candidate will ideally have 2-3 years of experience in electrical engineering with experience in the spacecraft power and/or attitude control systems engineering field.
  • Strong technical, presentation, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Independent self-starter with good project management capabilities.
DECISION MAKINGamp; SUPERVISION:
  • Assesses, and agrees if acceptable, on behalf of program, engineering design and design changes proposed by Contractor to meet contractual requirements.
  • Refers contract changes to the appropriate authority and recommends acceptance or rejection.
  • Referred to for advice in electrical and attitude control subsystems.
  • Provides advice to engineering and program management relating to technical and schedule risks on programs.
  • Serve a key member of team in the resolution of technical problems or in spacecraft monitoring activities.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Generally comfortable office environment - hybrid minimum 3 days per week in the office
  • Some regular travel to Montreal, USA and overseas locations when required.
  • Work, generally analytical in nature, requires considerable attention to detail.
