Program delivery involves inspection and monitoring of drinking water, food, public accommodation, housing, public and recreational facilities, sewage and waste disposal. The program requires extensive legislation application and enforcement, health hazard assessment and abatement, communicable disease prevention and investigation, health promotion and education.Required QualificationsBachelor Degree in Environmental HealthCertificate in Public Health Inspection (Canada), CPHIExperienceOne year experience in Public Health Inspection preferred including knowledge and skill in the practice, methods and techniques of public health inspection.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesAbility to demonstrate professional conduct and judgement and ethical behaviour Ability to travel both within the region and provinciallyAbility to work independentlyComputer skills including Microsoft Office word processing and spreadsheets, email and internet Effective oral and written communication skillsFlexible and able to adapt to a variety of work situations Interpersonal skillsProblem solving skillsPublic relations skillsOther InformationField HoursPreference for this position will be given to HSAS members in accordance with the terms and conditions of the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement.
