As a First Cook, the care you devote to preparing each menu item will not go unnoticed by the guests who are fortunate enough to enjoy them! What you will be doing: Consistently offer professional, friendly and proactive guest service while supporting fellow colleaguesPrepare, cook and service all food items for a la carte and or buffet menus or individual dishes according to hotel recipes and standardsOrganize and manage buffets and banquets, manage kitchen operationsFollow kitchen policies, procedures and service standards and follow all safety and sanitation policies when handling food and beverageHave full knowledge of all menu’s items, daily features and promotionsMonitor present and upcoming business volumes as well as food items and to communicate relevant information to their department in a timely mannerEnsure proper labeling, dating and storage of all items in the kitchenEnsure cleanliness and maintenance of work areas, utensils, and equipment and Control waste and spoilageTrain and supervise junior staff in preparation, cooking and handling of foodMaintain inventory and records of food, supplies and equipmentPrepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances and handle guest allergy concerns with appropriate care and importance by reporting to Sous ChefOther duties as assigned Your experience and skills include: Previous experience, minimum of three years, in the culinary field requiredJourneyman’s papers or international equivalent an assetDiploma/Certification in a Culinary discipline requiredStrong interpersonal and problem solving abilitiesHighly responsibleamp; reliableAbility to work well under pressure in a fast paced environmentAbility to work cohesively as part of a teamAbility to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times Physicals aspects include but are not limited to:Constant standing and walking throughout shiftFrequent lifting and carrying up to 50+ lbsFrequent kneeling, pushing, pulling, liftingOccasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs and rampsMust be legally eligible to work in Canada.
