Job Description

Equipment SpecialistThis role requires flexibility to work from Friday to Sunday in a 12-hour (Continental) shift that rotates between days and nights.How will you make an impactWhen you’re part of the team at Thermo Fisher Scientific, you’ll do important work, like helping customers in finding cures for cancer, protecting the environment or making sure our food is safe and you’ll be valued and recognized for your performance. With dedicated managers and inspiring coworkers to support you, you’ll find the resources and opportunities to make significant contributions to the world while building a vibrant career!What will you doEnsures packaging equipment and machinery are maintained in good order under Good Manufacturing Process (GMP) guidelines for maximum equipment uptime. Provides technical skilled support and guidance to site operations via specialized maintenance services on a timely basis.Responsibilities:Follows standardized engineering procedures to perform the following tasks:

  • Timely Preventive Maintenance (PM), troubleshooting, repair and overhaul tasks on all equipment
  • Fabrication of auxiliary equipment including stands, platforms, etc. as directed
  • Participates in process improvement by recommending Preventative Maintenance and Quality improvements
  • Utilizes lathe, milling machine, drill press, grinder, Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) Oxy-acetylene welding
  • Welds materials including aluminium, steel, stainless steel, braising and silver solder
  • Participates in investigating equipment malfunctioning and damages
  • Performs alternating or rotating shift work including weekend shifts.
How will you get thereRequirementsEducation:
  • A high school diploma/General Educational Development (GED) Certificate is required
  • Ready to be licensed to practice as Industrial Millwright.
Experience:
  • Minimum 2 years of mechanical experience, preferably in food, cosmetic or pharmaceutical industries.
  • Experience in reading drawing and schematics is an asset.
  • Maximo CMMS program experience is an asset.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • A proactive and organized approach to completing tasks timely and efficiently.
  • Attention to detail and quality of work.
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
  • Proficiency with the English Language.
