Hospital Manager - Alpine Veterinary Medical ClinicAlpine Veterinary Medical Clinic was opened in February 2005 in Whitehorse, the capital of the Yukon Territory. We are a busy 9 Veterinarian practice providing services for a wide variety of species to a wide geological area. We provide the very best standard of veterinary care with the latest advancements in medicine and technology.Whitehorse is a vibrant, family-friendly community surrounded by breathtaking wilderness. The colourful buildings and lively main street are surrounded by mountains. Flowing through the middle of the mountains is the wonderfully hued Yukon River. If you are someone who enjoys all four seasons, a positive work-life balance and spending time outdoors, then Whitehorse is for you!Job SummaryThe Hospital Manager is a leader and an integral member of the veterinary hospital management team. The Hospital Manager partners with the Managing Veterinarian to provide a smooth and profitable operation by driving revenue and managing costs while creating a hospital culture based on high-quality patient care and exceptional customer service. Responsibilities include managing, planning, and coordinating the overall operations of the hospital, and cultivating a supportive and collaborative team environment.Knowledge and/or experience in the following areas

  • Multi-functional operations including budget and labor management.
  • Manage time and tasks appropriately and remain flexible with assigned duties.
  • Supervisory and leadership experience.
  • Reporting and data analysis.
  • Problem-solving and resolution management skills.
  • Oral and written communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills i.e. Microsoft Office suite (Previous practice management software knowledge preferred).
  • Interpersonal skills with staff and clients, and works well in a team environment.
  • Customer service strategies and effective marketing techniques.
  • HR policies and protocol development.
  • Staff management including: coaching, developing, and motivating staff.
  • Assist in hiring processes of all support staff.
  • Conduct performance appraisals.
  • Delegate responsibility and achieve results with hospital team members.
  • Make decisions confidently and effectively.
  • Model a professional and courteous manner with staff and clients.
  • Be comfortable if required to work uncommon hours, and be subject to recall in a emergency situation
  • Have an abiding love of animals and a deep understanding of the human/animal bond
  • Have strong management and leadership skills with the ability to set priorities, delegate, motivate and develop the hospital and team to become top performers in the community.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related degree is preferred or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a manager role, including customer service experience.
  • Work exposure to all aspects of a business enterprise, with demonstrated competence in budgeting and financial reporting and in staff management
