Further information is available at www.newflyer.com.POSITION SUMMARYReporting to the Purchasing Manager, as a Buyer, you will be responsible for executing the material supply plan to achieve 100% build-in-station target for suppliers in a timely manner. You will maintain supplier communications to ensure they have accurate information to support the business plan. WHAT YOU WILL DO:• Complete daily workload accurately and on a timely basis, to support departmental targets on PO creation, delivery on time, late orders, requisitions, variances, inventory levels, invoices, etc.• Develop and sustain a professional relationship with Suppliers and internal Customers towards proper execution of tasks and support continuous improvement of performance for strategic and complex suppliers. • Resolve supply related issues with the supplier and use creativity to find solutions for parts shortages.• Prepare business cases and recovery plans with suppliers and internal Customers as needed including communication plan for impacted groups and management.• Identify improvement opportunities including summarization, presentation, and implementation.• Conduct supplier visits and audits.• Challenge forecasts and planning parameters as needed and monitor the PO/inventory health.• Proactively find and act on all business opportunities where prices, discounts, and delivery constraints (MOQ, Lot size, etc.) can be challenged and negotiated.• Submit Engineering documentation (new part releases or changes) to Suppliers on a timely basis and support first article documentation requirements.• Support traffic personnel in securing required documentation for shipment of goods to our facilities (Bills of Lading, Customs and Duty, WHMIS, MSDS or other governmental documents as needed).• Interprets, understands, and ensures Supplier adherence to contracts and agreements. • Participate in the negotiation process by representing Purchasing.• Proactively advises roadblocks, providing premium quality information with relevant references, dates, location of source information, etc.WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:· Bachelor’s degree in relevant field (e.g., Business, Supply Chain, Industrial Eng.) or equivalent relevant work experience.· 5-8 years of Purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.· Advanced knowledge of MS Office software including Excel (VLOOKUP, pivots, macros) and Power Point.· Strong knowledge of MRP systems and inventory planning.· Exceptional time management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced multifunctional environment. · Innovative problem-solver who can generate workable solutions and resolve complaints.· Excellent interpersonal skills combined with a professional attitude to provide and maintain excellent customer service.· Supply Chain Management Designation would be considered an asset (e.g., CPIM, CSCP, CLTD, CTSC).
