Job Description

POSITION SUMMARYAs a Design Specialist - Mechanical, you will provide engineering support focused on mechanical components and systems. You’ll work closely with both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring technical excellence and maintaining the quality of aftermarket parts for the life of the bus.WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Design and implement innovative engineering solutions for vehicle parts, assemblies, and mechanical systems.
  • Create technical drawings, specifications, and complex layouts.
  • Manage Bills of Material (BOMs) and implement engineering changes through approved processes (ECO, CHR).
  • Reverse engineer obsolete parts and maintain technical specifications throughout a vehicle’s lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with Customer Service, Procurement, Quality Assurance, and Manufacturing to resolve technical queries and support key initiatives.
  • Write, release, and maintain test reports, processes, and procedures while adhering to industry standards and best practices.
  • Lead projects of varying complexity, ensuring on-time delivery and technical accuracy.
  • Monitor and report on department Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Travel to support technical projects and customer needs as required.
RequirementsEducation: Bachelor of Science in Engineering (P.Eng or EIT), Diploma in Engineering Technology (CET), or equivalent work experienceExperience: Expertise in the automotive, bus, or trucking industries, with a focus on mechanical systems.Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency with measuring equipment (calipers, micrometers) and shop tools.
  • Advanced skills in CAD software and MS Office Suite.
  • Exposure to PLC programming will be considered an asset.
