Job Description

Further information is available at www.nfi.parts.com.POSITION SUMMARYUnder the general supervision of the Publishing Coordinator, the Desktop Publishing Operator will perform the design, creation and output of all desktop publishing services requested. Supply guidance and training to junior publishing staff. Perform administrative tasks required for proper material purchase, output, receipt and delivery of manual deliverables.WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Develop and manage Desktop Publishing (DTP) templates for all required manuals and departmental documents.
  • Perform typesetting or DTP duties as required by manual production schedule.
  • Provide training and assistance to other Desktop Publishing staff.
  • Work with other departmental staff, as required, for the development of any new document projects.
  • Ensure that Desktop Publishing procedures are established and maintained.
  • Ensure established publishing standards departmental styles are followed by performing quality control checks on other DPO staff work as required.
  • Perform administrative support tasks such as document preparation, material shipping, tracking, and receipt and delivery activities.
  • Maintain accurate files of contract deliverable items such as distribution summary, OEM supplier manual purchase and output status, customer correspondence and all records retention documents.
  • Perform purchasing duties for department and maintain accurate files of purchases for all office supplies and manual building materials. In addition, monthly expense reports are to be reviewed for accuracy or changes as required.
  • Perform final output and assembly of publishing projects.
  • Compile and/or review and edit weekly timesheet reports.
  • Ensure supply room, production room, shipping deck, contract file cabinets are kept in a neat and well-organized fashion.
  • Perform effectively and in a cooperative manner as a member within the team.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned.
RequirementsWHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
  • Certification in Desktop Publishing from a recognized Training program/institute or combination of education and experience.
  • 3 -5 years’ experience creating various types of manuals in a Technical Publishing organization using Adobe FrameMaker. Preferably in a manufacturing publishing environment.
  • 3 - 5 years’ experience in purchasing materials and maintaining associated documentation.
  • Excellent team player who can effectively communicate and work under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent document design skills with expert working knowledge of publishing software such as Adobe FrameMaker.
  • Excellent computer knowledge of MS Office, Window network with very strong organizational and file management skills.
  • Knowledge of XML publishing tools and single source publishing technologies would be an asset.
  • Experience with using Oracle would be an asset.
