Manufacturing Engineering Co-op StudentLocation: Winnipeg, ManitobaTerm: 8 months term Co-op PlacementDepartment: Manufacturing EngineeringPosition SummaryThe Manufacturing Engineering Co-op Student will support day-to-day production activities by assisting with key entry-level engineering tasks. This role provides hands-on experience in a dynamic manufacturing environment and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives. The student will work closely with the Manufacturing Engineering team to ensure production efficiency, quality, and process reliability.Key Responsibilities· Resource Model Support: Assist in rebuilding and updating the production resource model to reflect current operations.· Installation Audits: Conduct audits to verify proper installation of components and systems on the production line.· Station Tool Audits: Perform audits of tools at workstations and update the tool database to ensure accuracy and availability.· DC Torque Tool Implementation: Support the rollout of DC torque tools and participate in process audits to ensure proper usage and calibration.· Time Studies: Collect and analyze data on new builds to identify process improvements and validate labor standards.· Quality at Source (QAS) Projects: Contribute to various QAS initiatives such as: - Coach Protection Project - Paint Quality Improvement - Refurbishing Component Shipping Containers - Updating Preventive Maintenance (PM) and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) tasks for long-term sustainmentLearning Outcomes· Gain practical experience in manufacturing engineering processes· Develop communication and collaboration skills in a production environment· Learn how to conduct audits, analyze data, and support continuous improvement initiatives· Understand the importance of quality assurance and process reliability in manufacturingQualifications· Currently enrolled in a Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering program· Strong attention to detail and organizational skills· Basic understanding of manufacturing principles and production environments· Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)· Good communication and teamwork skills· Familiarity with CAD software is an asset but not required
