POSITION SUMMARY:The Material Handler plays a key role in assisting the maintenance department with material handling, waste management, plant cleanliness, and special projects. WHAT YOU WILL DO:
  • Material Handleramp; Equipment Operation:
    • Conduct pre-use inspections of material handler equipment and maintain inspection logs.
    • Safely operate and maintain forklifts and other handler equipment.
    • Load and unload parts, racks, crates, and pallets securely from trucks.
    • Wasteamp; Hazardous Materials Management:
      • Oversee plant-wide garbage removal, ensuring bins and designated areas are well-maintained.
      • Manage hazardous waste disposal, maintain accurate pickup logs, and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
      • Transport acetone for recycling and drain/de-cap drums as required.
      • Facility Cleaningamp; Maintenance Support:
        • Perform routine plant cleaning and sanitation tasks.
        • Maintain, organize, and clean the company yard as directed.
        • Assist the maintenance team with material handler, cleaning, and special projects.
        • Process Improvementamp; Administrative Support:
          • Promote and uphold lean manufacturing principles and 5S initiatives.
          • Perform data entry tasks related to material handling and waste management.
          WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESFUL:
          • 1 to 3 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment, with a strong understanding of workplace safety and operational procedures.
          • Previous forklift experience with valid Manitoba certification is preferred; ability to operate material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
          • Proficiency in communication systems, including two-way radios, telephones, and general office equipment, to ensure effective coordination across teams.
          • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, to support collaboration with colleagues and management.
          • Proven ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
          • Moderate computer proficiency, with experience in data entry and inventory tracking software.
          • Basic mechanical aptitude, with the ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation.
          • Physical capability to lift and move items up to 50 lbs and perform hands-on maintenance, cleaning, and waste management tasks.
          • Commitment to workplace organization by promoting lean manufacturing principles and 5S initiatives.
