Job Description

Further information is available at www.newflyer.com.POSITION SUMMARYThe primary responsibility of this role is to oversee and align Materials Planning operations across multiple organizations, including both Transit and Coach, with a focus on achieving standardization and operational excellence. This includes ensuring the timely and accurate release of work orders to support manufacturing operations, while closely coordinating with all production sites to maintain adherence to the production schedule. The role is also accountable for driving improvements in inventory management, reducing costs, and enhancing overall efficiency and performance across the supply chain. WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Manage the Materials department budget, including overtime, salaries, and operational expenses
  • Drive performance by ensuring KPIs and MBO goals are met across all teams
  • Standardize and optimize processes to reduce waste, costs and inventory thrugh effective system utilization
  • Oversee accurate and timely release of fabrication work orders
  • Align supply and demand to ensure on-time delivery for Transit, Coach, and Service Centre customers
  • Ensure smooth and efficient material flow to support production schedules across all sites
  • Manage execution of Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) to ensure job accuracy and production readiness
  • Lead and support insourcing and outsourcing initiatives across Transit and Coach operations
  • Communicate and execute schedule changes across multiple sites effectively
  • Implement inventory strategies to maintain optimized inventory levels
  • Provide mentorship, training, and performance guidance to teams across all locations
  • Lead and delegate continuous improvement initiatives to drive departmental efficiency
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience through work experience in manufacturing and planning, APICS Certification considered an asset
  • 5-10 years’ experience in Production Planning within a fast-paced manufacturing and inventory control environment
  • Strong understanding of MRP, Oracle and advanced skills in MS Excel
  • Demonstrated success in optimizing inventory levels and reducing material-related costs
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on operational efficiency
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities to manage teams and coordinate across departments
  • Skilled in leading cross-functional teams and driving continuous improvement initiatives
