Job Description

Further information can be found at www.newflyer.com.POSITION GOAL:As a member of the Product Improvement Engineering team, you will be accountable for completion of mechanical engineering design tasks and projects from concept to implementation in production. This will include all related design activities, calculations, communications, drawings, testing, and bill of material.Key Responsibilities

  • Completes design tasks and project assignments which support New Product Development activities.
  • Lead projects, perform project management tasks, and coordinate engineering activities, ensuring schedule and dates are met considering regulatory, vendor, and production lead times.
  • Creates engineering designs that meet industry regulations, standards, and specifications, customer specifications, and ensure designs are within manufacturing abilities.
  • Performs calculations and analysis to ensure compliance with design criteria and all applicable regulations.
  • Completes controlled testing of components and installations in order to meet contractual obligations, ensure product reliability and verify component fit.
  • Completes engineering drawings and release documents in accordance with engineering procedures.
  • Interacts with vendors and customers on design related issues. Ensures that where applicable there are documents of vendor approval on new installations or applications.
  • Provides technical support to other engineering teams and departments as authorized by manager.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology Diploma or equivalent
  • Registered (or eligible to be registered) as a Professional Engineer or Certified Engineering Technologist
  • 5-10 years design experience and demonstrate ability to achieve performance objectives and targets.
  • Proficiency in NX CAD software, TeamCenter and engineering analysis tools.
  • Project management experience is an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and work efficiently in a high demanding fast paced work environment.
  • Motivated self-starter with high level of initiative and ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work and contribute to a team orientated environment.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a proven track record of working effectively within diverse teams.
  • Travel is required for this position
