Job Description

Motor Coach Industries (“MCI”) is North America’s public and private market motor coach leader, offering the all-time best-selling luxury motor coaches and workhorse commuter coaches, and brand new zero-emission luxury, high- and low-floor commuter coaches, designed on MCI #39;s legendary J Series and D Series platforms. POSITION SUMMARY:The New Product Development Proto Shop Supervisor will oversee the day-to-day operations of the proto shop, ensuring that all prototyping activities are conducted efficiently and meets the present and future needs of New Flyer. This includes the design, build and testing of products. This role will also be responsible for managing resources, coordinating projects, and leading the Proto Shop team.WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Co-ordinate and oversee shop activities.
  • Maintain shop equipment, and a safe working environment ensuring safety and health protocols are adhered to.
  • Coordinate prototype builds, including procurement, inventory controlamp; issue material.
  • Document test reports and as built configurations including sketches, mockup, etc.
  • Verify set-up and execute test plans.
  • Manageamp; report monthly to engineering directorsamp; group leaders on open test requests.
  • Troubleshoot technical design problems.
  • Help advise and train shop personnel and/or engineers in the emerging technologies, and in their field of expertise.
  • Follow all department processes and company policies
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a prototype shop.
  • Practical knowledge of bus systems, maintenance practices and installation methods is preferred.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team.
  • Strong understanding of prototyping processes and techniques.
  • Proficient in the use of all shop toolsamp; Microsoft office.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficient in relevant software applications, including CAD and project management tools.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or prototyping environment is preferred.
  • Heavy Duty Mechanical abilities is an asset.
