Job Description

POSITION GOAL: Accountable for completion of structure and weld design tasks and projects from concept to implementation in production. This will include all related design activities, calculations, communications, drawings and bill of material. Reports to Technical Lead - Structures.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Completes design tasks and project assignments which support production activities.2. Coordinates assigned tasks to ensure schedule and dates are met considering vendor and production lead times. Includes maintaining task status and recording time speed on each task.3. Creates Engineering designs that meet customer specifications, Technical Summaries, other contracts documents, and ensure designs are within manufacturing abilities.4. Performs calculations and analysis, where applicable to ensure compliance with design criteria and all applicable regulations.5. Completes controlled testing of components and installations in order to meet contractual obligations, ensure product reliability and verify component fit.6. Completes Engineering drawings and release documents in accordance with Engineering procedures.7. Provides technical support to Production, Quality Assurance, Customer Service Support, and other departments as required.8. Interacts with vendors and customers on design related issues. Ensures that where applicable there are documents of vendor approval on new installations or applications.9. Checks Engineering Documents, Instructions to Service, Shop Floor Instructions, and other documents as authorized by Technical Lead.Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering
  • Registered Professional Engineer – Weld Engineer
  • Structure and welding background
  • Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) Certified
  • Able to interpret Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
  • Minimum 4 years design released experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong NX, team work and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment.
  • This position requires occasional walking, sitting, and other physical activities essential to the role, with minimal travel of less than 2%.
