Job Description

Further information is available at www.nfigroup.comPOSITION SUMMARY: The Accounting Transactions Team Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of the daily operations of the Group Accounting Transaction Team. The Accounting Transactions Team Supervisor is also responsible for working closely with the Group Accounting Manager to ensure that deadlines for the submission of month end, quarter end and year end results are submitted on time and in accordance with NFI Group policies and processes. WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Monitor the daily performance of the North American Transactions team of the Internal Group Accounting Function and communicate progress to the Group Accounting Manager and Group Director – Internal Accounting
  • Review of monthly/quarterly account reconciliations
  • Working closely with the Group Accounting Manager to ensure that deadlines for the submission of month end, quarter end and year end results are submitted on time and in accordance with NFI Group policies and processes.
  • Ensuring that document preparation and retention by all members of the team is in accordance with Group practices
  • Monitoring compliance with ICFR controls which are the responsibility of the Transaction Team.
  • Providing leadership to team members and peers through collaboration
  • Problem solving
  • Identification of unusual accounting transactions and resolution of their treatment with support from the Group Accounting function
  • Supervise and mentor direct reports, including assigning work, supporting development, leading employee performance reviews, etc
  • Responsible for the training of new-hires and for evaluating the performance of and providing feedback to your team
  • Assist in the development and implementation of NFI Group Accounting standard processes.
  • Work with Group Accounting Manager to coordinate resource allocation across Group Accounting initiatives
  • Support all Group Accounting initiatives as required
  • Leading continuous improvement and provide direction to the Finance team through lean principles
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
  • CPA designation considered an asset
  • 1-2 years post Accountancy Designation Qualification
  • 5+ years in a financial role
  • 1-3 years’ experience in a supervisory position considered an asset
  • Working Knowledge of IFRS and GAAP
  • Ability to maintain positive working relationships and communication with internal and external customers and all levels of the organization
  • Strong organizational interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and initiative to seek improvements.
  • Analytical problem solvers with capabilities to work within a fast-paced team-oriented environment.
  • Experience with ERP systems and databases (Oracle preferred)
