We’re united by a shared commitment to excellent and equitable health care.Position OverviewUnder the direction of the Manager, Resident Care and the Coordinator, Volunteer Services, completes clerical support functions related to Volunteer Services.Experience

  • Previous experience in the health care environment preferred.
  • Previous experience in a similar position preferred.
  • Previous experience with Excel, Word, Power Point, Publisher and Outlook required.
  • Previous experience in basic accounting skills preferred.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Grade XII graduate, Manitoba standards.
  • Successful completion of a recognized clerical/administrative assistant training program required.
Certification/Licensure/RegistrationNot applicableQualifications and Skills
  • Proficiency in the use of the Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Publisher and PowerPoint), the use of the Internet and HIPPO program.
  • Excellent knowledge of English grammar, spelling and punctuation.
  • Knowledge of roles and responsibilities of members of the health care team.
  • Knowledge of relevant Workplace Safety and Health responsibilities.
  • Keyboarding skills with an accuracy of 50 wpm.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision, using good judgment and asking for guidance, direction when necessary.
  • Ability to express ideas and thoughts in English both verbally and in written format.
  • Ability to listen and comprehend effectively.
  • Ability to select appropriate communication methods pertinent to the situation.
  • Ability to support committee functions through scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, taking notes/minutes and other required duties.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive interpersonal relationships with patients/residents/clients, family members and co-workers.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to establish and maintain accurate files and records.
  • Ability to organize workload and set priorities.
  • Ability to use systems and equipment typical of an office environment.
Physical Requirements
  • Physical and mental health to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.
  • Ability to work safely without injury to self, to patients/residents/clients, or to other staff.
This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment.
