We’re united by a shared commitment to excellent and equitable health care.Position OverviewRiverview Health Centre, recognized as one of Manitoba #39;s Top Employers in 2023, is renowned for its exceptional rehabilitation, palliative, and long-term care services delivered by a dedicated team of 850 professionals.Through the partnership with Interlake-Eastern RHA, the Community-Based Physiotherapist will provide comprehensive care using a hybrid model of in-person and virtual services. This ensures timely and personalized treatment for patients in the Winnipeg/Ashern-Hodgson Area, with the Physiotherapist being present in the community two to three days per week and offering tele-rehab/virtual care support from Riverview Health Centre on other days.As a rehabilitation professional, you can make a profound impact on health outcomes in rural, remote, and Indigenous communities. By utilizing a hybrid model that combines in-person and virtual care, you will break down geographical barriers and offer timely consultations, diagnoses, and personalized treatment options.The Physical Therapist (PT) role will involve close engagement with diverse populations, collaborating with individuals, communities, and organizations. Delivering culturally relevant care that respects values, customs, and traditions is crucial. Building trust, practising cultural humility, and fostering relationships are essential elements of your work. You #39;ll gain invaluable experience in rural hospitals and remote First Nations, deepening your understanding of their unique challenges and needs.   • Recent and relevant clinical experience preferred. Preference will be given to applicants with a minimum of two years of clinical experience.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • A bachelor #39;s or master #39;s degree in physiotherapy from an accredited Canadian university program or the approved equivalent for internationally educated applicants, and a period of supervised practical training are required.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
  • Registration or eligibility for registration on the Practicing Roster of the College of Physiotherapists of Manitoba is required.
  • Must have a valid Manitoba Class 5 driver’s licence, own transportation, and be willing to travel to Lake Manitoba and Pinaymootang First Nations, which are located within 250 km of Winnipeg, within the Interlake Region.
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Training requirements for this position shall be in accordance with the WRHA policy.
  • Membership with the Canadian Physiotherapy Association is preferred.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Preference will be given to those applicants who are competent in an Indigenous language and/or have knowledge of Indigenous customs, traditions, and values.
  • Ability to establish and maintain good interpersonal relationships.
  • Must have effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other disciplines and demonstrate professional judgement and initiative.
  • Knowledge of the physiological, social, cultural, and economic aspects of client care.
  • Ability to organize and complete assignments with a minimum of supervision.
  • Willingness to adapt to new concepts, techniques, and best practice in the academic and clinical fields of healthcare and education.
  • Computer literacy as appropriate to the setting.
Note: Completion of the Manitoba Indigenous Cultural Safety Training program and the Indigenous Culture Awareness Workshop is required within six months of employment.Physical Requirements
  • Must be in good physical and mental health and be able to stand or walk for extended periods of time without resting.
  • Must demonstrate the use of safe and effective body mechanics while working with clients.
  • Must be able to safely transfer large and/or heavy clients who may have limited or no weight bearing capabilities.
  • Must demonstrate adequate motor coordination or dexterity for the implementation of therapeutic techniques and the manipulation of therapeutic activities as necessary.
  • May be required to work evenings or weekends.
  • May be required to occasionally work extended hours.
  • May be exposed to infectious diseases, blood and body fluids, toxic materials, noise, allergens, and physical and emotional stress.
  • May encounter aggressive and/or agitated clients, visitors, or staff.
Additional Information
  • Mileage and meal per diems will be reimbursed according to current Riverview Health Centre travel policies when services are provided on site and not virtually.
  • Accommodations will be provided as services are provided on site for two or three consecutive days or in the case of inclement weather necessitating an overnight stay within the Health Authority.
