Job Description

Fiberglass RepairmanNew Flyer is North America #39;s heavy-duty transit bus leader with various locations in North America.Offering the most advanced product line under the Xcelsior® and Xcelsior CHARGE™ brands. Further information is available at www.newflyer.com.POSITION SUMMARYAs a member of the Paint Shop team, this position will be responsible for repairing fiberglass parts while adhering to company procedures.WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Repair fiberglass, blisters, crackers, and low spots using power tools to drill, cut out and smooth defective areas.
  • Repair any structural damage to the bus.
  • Cut and fit fiberglass patches and fill holes with plastic fillers.
  • Mix resins or plastic plant with catalyst and spray repaired surfaces.
  • Buff surfaces to provide lustrous finish using buffing compound and portable buffer.
  • Responsible for completing tasks to ensure performance targets are met.
  • Maintain accurate information flow to support our first-time quality initiatives.
  • Adhere to safety procedures as they apply to all equipment used in this position.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
  • Previous experience working with fiberglass is required.
  • Possess a strong understanding about the painting process/practices with the ability to read blueprints, and/or process sheets.
  • Have great interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Able to perform required duties with minimal supervision.
  • Operate equipment and power/hand tools that are required in this position.
