Technical Translator (French)/Technical Writer This position is intended to combine translation duties and technical writing.â—Translates documents from English to French.â—Ability to read and understand the context of mechanical information or will train.â—Revise and proofread existing documents to ensure accuracy.â—Establish and maintain a lexicon of technical terms and standardized grammar.â—Familiar with specialized CAT tools (Déjà Vu) and specialized dictionaries (Termium) as references for translating and proofreading French text is an excellent asset to have.â—Research, plan, create and revise technical documents using approved data from multiple sourcesâ—Technical content being created or revised includes: service bulletins, installation instructions, operations and maintenance manuals.Job Requirements:Qualifications:â—College diploma in technical communication; or equivalent experience.â—Good planning, organizational, leadership, interpersonal, analytical, decision making, oral and written communication skills.â—Shall have the ability to perform both individually and as part of a diverse team.â—Consult with subject matter experts and other publication staff on writing and illustration requirements, production schedules, formatting specifications and delivery deadlines.â—Knowledge of desktop translation and publishing software (Déjà Vu, InDesign, Frame Maker, Adobe Acrobat) and familiarity with Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator.â—Exceptional research, grammatical and written communication skills, as well as excellent organizational and analytical skills.â—Good computer skills. Open to learning new software specific to this roleCandidate should possess some mechanical knowledge or an expressed interest.â—Experience in project management an asset.
