Job Description

Junior Designer – Electrical Checkouts and Programming New Flyer is North America #39;s heavy-duty transit bus leader with various locations in North America.Offering the most advanced product line under the Xcelsior® and Xcelsior CHARGE™ brands. Further information is available at www.newflyer.com.POSITION SUMMARYAs a Junior Designer, you will be accountable for completing engineering design tasks and projects, primarily related to electrical checkouts and PLC programming, from concept to implementation in production. This will include all related design activities, calculations, communications, drawings, and bills of materials.WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Create engineering designs, especially PLC programs, that meet customer functionality requirements and applicable regulations.
  • Write electrical checkout procedures that allow proper testing of vehicles before delivery.
  • Create other programs and configuration files as needed for engines, fans, hybrid propulsion systems, gateway modules, and other components as needed.
  • Provide engineering support to production, quality assurance, customer service support, and other departments, remotely or onsite at production facilities as required.
  • Interact with vendors and customers on design-related issues.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
  • Graduated from an engineering technical institute/university with a degree in electrical engineering.
  • 1-2 years of design-related experience.
  • PLC programming.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
