Job Description

Learning and Development SpecialistNFI is a leading global bus manufacturer of mass mobility solutions under the brands New Flyer® (heavy-duty transit buses), MCI® (motor coaches), Alexander Dennis Limited (single and double-deck buses), Plaxton (motor coaches), ARBOC® (low-floor cutaway and medium-duty buses), and NFI Parts™. POSITION SUMMARYReporting to the NFI Learning Institute, this role is responsible for course design, development and delivery with a professional and leadership focus for all businesses within the NFI Group in both instructor led and eLearning formats. There is a strong focus on relationship building with our internal customers as well as external service providers.WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Consults with and support business units/departments and Human Resources to identify, plan and implement, training and development requirements as driven by strategic performance, cultural and safety needs of the organization.
  • Conducts interviews with internal customers and managers, to identify skill, knowledge, and performance gaps in support of identifying options that will enhance performance and close gaps through training, coaching, practical application, and roleplay.
  • Researches, designs, implements, and maintains standardized, comprehensive training courses, programs and documentation based on identified organizational and affiliate needs, changes in culture, products, procedures, and services.
  • Collaborates and supports members of the NFI Learning Institute by providing peer reviews of curriculum and programs, and to enhance the design, and instruction of curricula (classroom or on-the-job) utilizing instructional design techniques, including use of learning objectives, lesson plans, teaching aids and assessment materials.
  • Presents training to all levels within the organization or externally as required.
  • Negotiates training programs, sources materials and delivery methods.
  • Identifies KPI’s that allows for the analysis of impact and knowledge transfer to the job post training.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of applicable training effectiveness methods such as evaluation, validation, and cost benefit analysis to set and meet training performance goals.
  • Maintains a training inventory, schedules courses, develops course outlines, manuals, training aids and documentation in conjunction with curriculum.
  • Administers and maintains various contracts and programs from outside training service providers.
  • Tracks and manages compliance for courses and programs within area of responsibility.
  • Works with subject matter experts to design and develop eLearning that supports departmental and organizational objectives and goals.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
  • Adult Education certificate or bachelor #39;s degree or diploma in Management, Organizational Behaviour, Organization Development, or related field.
  • Minimum of five years #39; experience in a training role, identifying, designing, and implementing training programs.
  • Experience providing training delivery in a unionized environment is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing practices and experience with instructional design process, regulatory requirements and quality standards is an asset.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and facilitation skills, and ability to collaborate with all levels in the organization.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Motivated self-starter with capabilities to successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office.
