Job Description

Since 1987, Frontiers North Adventures has hosted guests in and around the subarctic community of Churchill, Manitoba to dine beneath the northern lights, drift amongst beluga whales, and lock eyes with wild polar bears. Our programs are meaningfully designed for wildlife and culture enthusiasts, photographers, families, and experiential adventure travellers. Frontiers North Adventures works and hosts guests on Treaty 1, 2 and 5 Territories, which include the traditional and ancestral lands of the Cree, Ojibway, Oji-Cree, Dakota, Dene, Inuit, and the homeland of the Red River Métis Nation.We are currently hiring a Manager, Sales and Guest Relations.POSITION SUMMARYThe Manager, Sales and Guest Relations (MSGR) leads the development and implementation of sales strategies and tactics to drive Frontiers North Adventures’ (FNA) position as an internationally recognized certified B Corp® leader in authentic and sustainable adventures in Canada’s North. In addition to developing FNA’s sales strategy, the MSGR’s key responsibilities include identifying and developing direct-to-customer market opportunities, soliciting and developing business-to-business relationships with Destination Canada country managers, tour operators in key country markets and preformed groups and business event clients, as well as developing and executing sales campaigns, monitoring performance and adjusting tactics as needed, developing sales policies and procedures, and leading the sales team to optimize performance.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*

  • Create and champion FNA’s sales strategy.
  • Develop tour rates and group sales deployment strategies through review of competitive data, demand analysis, and mix management.
  • Ahead of each tour season, review the departures and booking strategy and implement adjustments as needed.
  • Identify and develop market opportunities to acquire new customers and gain insights for new tour packages and services.
  • •Solicit and build relationships with business-to-business selling partners to reach more travellers through multiple distribution channels.
  • Develop and manage FNA’s loyalty programs to build long-term relationships with customers and build psychological attachment, increase repeat business, upsell extra options, and increase referrals.
  • Represent FNA at industry sales events to network and develop relationships with travel agencies, tour operators, and other travel trade representatives.
  • Develop and execute sales campaigns to turn leads into sales and meet targets.
  • Develop, monitor, and report on sales metrics to ensure targets are being met and adjust tactics as needed.
  • Develop sales policies and procedures to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the sales department.
  • Provide strategic leadership to the sales team. Set the yearly agenda for the team and actively manage the department to accomplish their goals. Create opportunities for cross training to strengthen teams, create more opportunities for advancement within the company, and create redundancies for periods of employee leaves and turnover.
  • Recruit salespeople, train and coach, assign duties, set objectives, and monitor performance to ensure assigned tasks and responsibilities are fulfilled.

  • Attend all safety meetings as required.
  • Ensure the work area is clean, sanitary, well-organized, and hazard free.
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Post-secondary education in business, tourism and hospitality, or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
  • 10+ years’ sales experience, preferable in the hospitality or tourism industry.
  • 3+ years’ related work experience managing a sales team, preferably in the hospitality or tourism industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a sales team.
  • Valid Class 5 (standard driver’s licence) is required.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills in English; other languages are an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to use a computer, including Mac operating systems, Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Internet, and server databases.
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent customer service skills, including interpersonal skills, empathy, and patience.
  • Strong organizational skills and a keen attention to detail.
  • Must be able to work individually and as part of a team.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
  • Office environment; long periods of sitting, using a computer and mouse, and viewing information on a computer monitor.
  • The ability to travel to Churchill, Manitoba and other locations by air, vehicle, and/or train is required.
  • The use of a reliable vehicle is required.
  • Overtime may be required during evenings, weekends, and on holidays.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
