We’re united by a shared commitment to excellent and equitable health care.Position OverviewResponsible for: coding and abstracting patient data; quantitative analysis; quality assurance functions related to health information; and processing Medico-Legal requests. ExperiencePrevious coding experience would be considered an asset. Experience and knowledge of the CIHI Canadian Coding Standards including the Discharge Abstract Database (DAD), National Rehab Reporting System (NRS) and the National Ambulatory Care Reporting System (NACRS) essential.Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)Successful completion of a CHIMA recognized Health Information Management Program.Certification/Licensure/RegistrationCurrent active CHIMA membership preferred.Qualifications and SkillsKnowledge of computerized patient data systems. Knowledge of Canadian Institute of Health Information (CIHI) Case Mix Groups (CMG and Day Procedure Groups (DPG) essential. Ability to accurately code and abstract patient data using the ICD-10-CA/CCI coding system with recent experience in these functions. Ability to complete quality assurance (QA) analysis of patient records. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Discreet and confidential in all hospital/patient/resident related matters. Ability to learn and apply new CIHI standards annually. Physical RequirementsGood physical and mental health to meet the position demands. May be required to work extended hours. This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred.
