Job Description

CancerCare Manitoba located in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada is a provincial agency which provides clinical and academic services and leadership for cancer control and the treatment of blood disorders.We invite applications for the position of: Oncology Nurse IIDepartment of Nursing – St. Boniface HospitalTerm, Part-time (0.5 EFT)Maternity / Parental LeaveASAP - August 30, 2024 (may expire with 2 weeks #39; notice)Competition #: 348-23-713505513Job Summary:The Oncology Nurse is responsible for providing holistic cancer care to patients over the spectrum of the oncology experience: assessment, intervention, treatment administration and follow-up in the ambulatory setting. The Oncology Nurse will participate in patient/family education, make pertinent nursing assessments, collaborate with the multidisciplinary care team and provide appropriate interventions. The incumbent must be available to work a variable schedule. Nursing staff work with cytotoxic and hazardous medications on a daily basis. Personal protective equipment (PPE) and training are provided.Qualifications:Requirements:Current registration with College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM) Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Strong understanding of patient-centered care Proficient with MS Word//Outlook and internet use Satisfactory employment record Must be able to legally work in CanadaPreferred:Bachelor of Nursing Three (3) years’ experience within settings such as medical/surgical or ambulatory care Recent experiences in chemotherapy administration and IV insertion Knowledge and experience with oncology Experience with electronic charting Ability to speak FrenchAsset: Certified Oncology Nurse [CON(C)] Commitment to ongoing professional development Leadership and self-developmentWill be assessed During the Interview Process:Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational and problem-solving skills Ability to work both independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skillsSalary: As per MNU Collective Agreement Closing Date: October 27, 2023For selection purposes, CancerCare MB asks that all applicants self-identify as current employees from the following facilities: Health Sciences Centre, St. Boniface Hospital, Grace, Seven Oaks, Concordia, Victoria, Misericordia, Riverview, Deer Lodge, WRHA Public Health, WRHA Home Care, Breast Health Centre, WRHA CNS, Pan Am Clinic, Primary Care, Nurse Practitioners and Regional Programs.This position is subject to a Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector Search, an Adult Abuse Registry Check and a Child Abuse Registry Check.
