Volunteer Opportunities | Volunteer Manitoba Seven Oaks General Hospital Urgent Care Ambassador Organization Details Organization Name: Seven Oaks General Hospital Address: 2300 McPhillips StreetWinnipeg MB R2V 3M3 Website: http://www.sogh.ca Organizational Description: Volunteer Opportunity Details Volunteer Opportunity ID: 4972 Description of Duties: Duties/Responsibilities:Under the direct supervision of staff, the volunteer may assist with tasks such as:•Welcome visitors to the Urgent Care and ask if they need to see a doctor. Ask them to sit in the reserved front row brown chairs and have their Manitoba Health card ready. Ask them to remove their jacket if they are wearing one because they will have their blood pressure taken at triage.•Remember to smile; a smile conveys warmth.•Report to Triage or Charge Nurse upon arrival and end of shift•At the beginning of your shift, approach each patient and visitor in the Urgent Care Waiting Area.•Introduce yourself as a volunteer. Ask if there is anything you can do to make them more comfortable.•Answer non-medical questions for patients and their family members.•Please approach and welcome each new patient and visitor when they enter the Urgent Care waiting Area. Skills Required: •Excellent people and communication skills•The ability to solve problems in a calm, respectful manner•Good command of the English language•Physical ability to porter (transport) patients in a wheelchair•Ability to work independently•An outgoing personality with comfort in initiating contact with others is strongly desired•Being a self-starter, with the ability to anticipate and identify the potential needs of the public Skills Gained/Related Careers: Ability to see how an Urgent Care department works.
