Job Description

Sustainability Team Lead NFI is a leading global bus manufacturer of mass mobility solutions under the brands New Flyer® (heavy-duty transit buses), MCI® (motor coaches), Alexander Dennis Limited (single and double-deck buses), Plaxton (motor coaches), ARBOC® (low-floor cutaway and medium-duty buses), and NFI Parts™. POSITION SUMMARYReporting to the NFI Group Sustainability Manager, the Sustainability Team Lead plays a vital role in driving the Company’s sustainability initiatives across environmental, social, governance and economic dimensions. This position is responsible for supporting the execution of programs aligned with NFI’s corporate sustainability goals and promotes sustainable practices throughout the organization. Key responsibilities include supporting strategy development, participating in project planning and execution, and conducting program assessments. The successful candidate will have strong expertise in ESG principles and a deep understanding of international reporting frameworks. WHAT YOU WILL DO:
  • Acts as a liaison between the Sustainability Team and Sustainability Manager, guiding and supporting day-to-day work and priorities, including addressing project challenges and technical obstacles.
  • Monitors changes in sustainability indices, reporting, legislation and the needs and expectations of stakeholders.
  • Analyzes current practices and recommends necessary improvements and innovative solutions to drive NFI’s ESG portfolio.
  • Leads and oversees the accuracy, compliance, and clarity of reports, ensuring alignment with regulatory standards and internal policies.
  • Creates standard operating procedures to optimize data collection processes and measurements to satisfy multiple program requirements.
  • Tracks performance on the current state of the Group-wide energy, resource, waste management and sustainable procurement practices.
  • Works alongside cross-functional teams to support the implementation of a comprehensive communications strategy ensuring consistent messaging supporting the promotion of NFI’s sustainability initiatives.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert for the Learning and Development Team focusing on the design and development of sustainability training programs.
  • Supports activities related to ISO 45001 and 14001 programs.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
  • University or college degree in sustainability, environmental sciences, environmental management, business, finance, engineering and/or (a combination of relevant education and experience will be considered).
  • Demonstrated technical and sustainability project management experience is considered an asset.
  • Proven experience with sustainability reporting requirements, indices and scoring agencies (CDP Climate Change, TCFD, SASB, GRI, SBTi, ISO 14001 / 45001) is considered an asset.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with high attention to detail.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, with a strong emphasis in Excel (Microsoft Power BI considered an asset).
  • An accountable, passionate team leader that values building relationships, communicating effectively, and delivering results.
  • A valid driver #39;s license is required for this position.
