As a Water and Wastewater Treatment Operator with the City of Yorkton you’ll join acollaborative team ensuring quality water is delivered to the community, and clean, treated wastewater isreturned to the local environment. You’ll contribute to the success of our operation by performingpreventative maintenance, quality assurance, and providing effective solutions to challenging scenarios.Reporting to the Waterworks Managers; you’ll find yourself engaged in dynamic environments allowing for amultitude of learning opportunities indoors and out.Dut ies & Responsibilities Responsible for the frontline control of various treatment processes. This includes, but is not limitedto; sample collection, testing, and data interpretation along with the monitoring, analysis, and qualityassurance of water, wastewater, and other process streams. Responsible for maintaining the Water Treatment Plant, Wastewater Treatment Plant, and associatedappurtenances. This includes, but is not limited to; pump, blower, and motor servicing, equipmentcalibration, and tank entry, cleaning, and servicing. Responsible for the collection, interpretation, and keeping of various types of records and data. The successful candidate must be comfortable working non-standard hours. This includes, but is notlimited to; rotational weekends, evening and overnight standby, and emergency call-out response.E xperience Experience in the fields of Water and Wastewater Treatment is considered an asset. Experience relating to power engineering and boiler operation is considered an asset. Experience with computers and various software packages including; but, not limited to Microsoft Officeand SCADA software. Consideration may be given toward qualified experience in a relevant trade or industry. These wouldinclude; but are not limited to; engineering, mining, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, gas fitting, etc. Preference will be given to candidates who possess certification in the fields of Water and WastewaterTreatment.Qua lificationsUncertified Operator: - $23.63 Minimum of Grade 12 or Equivalency as determined by Saskatchewan Ministry of Education.o A diploma in Civil Engineering, Water Science Technology, or equivalent is preferred. Considerationmay be given toward science, technology, or technician programs of a similar nature. Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Saskatchewan driver’s license. Must possess and maintain R.C.M.P. security clearance. Must obtain and maintain a valid Saskatchewan Fireman’s Boiler Certificate within 18 months of hire. Must obtain and maintain valid SCBA, First Aid, CPR, SCOT/WHMIS, Air Brakes, OH&S levels 1 & 2, SCSA,Confined Space, and H2S Alive certificates.Operator Class I: - $24.83 Must possess and maintain all requirements for an Uncertified Operator with all certificates valid. Must obtain and maintain a valid Class 1 Water Treatment and Wastewater Treatment OperatorCertificate as determined by the Saskatchewan Operator Certification Board within 18 months of hire.Operator Class II: - $26.69 Must possess and maintain all requirements for an Operator Class I with all certificates valid. Must obtain and maintain a valid Class 2 Water Treatment and Wastewater Treatment OperatorCertificate as determined by the Saskatchewan Operator Certification Board.Operator Class III: - $31.52 Must possess and maintain all requirements for an Operator Class II with all certificates valid. Must obtain and maintain a valid Class 3 Water Treatment and Wastewater Treatment OperatorCertificate as determined by the Saskatchewan Operator Certification Board. Must demonstrate proven ability to act in Direct Responsible Charge (DRC).Operator Class IV: - $37.14 Must possess and maintain all requirements for an Operator Class III with all certificates valid.
