Job Description

Extendicare recognizes the importance of immunization to protect our residents, patients, team members and visitors from COVID-19. As such, subject to medical exemptions, a condition of employment with Extendicare is requiring that all new hires have received all required doses of a COVID-19 vaccine approved by Health Canada.COMMUNITY RELATIONS COORDINATOR – Yorkton Crossing Retirement Community__Join our growing and dynamic team and help our residents continue ‘their story’ with our retirement community.The Community Relations Coordinator is responsible for facilitating the sale of suites and promotion of the community to potential Residents and their families who may wish to choose us as their next home. Your superior listening and communication skills result in the successful generation of sales leads through the use of a variety of creative and innovative activities.You are a driven performer who welcomes targets while demonstrating professionalism to interact both with families and other stakeholders both in and outside the community. You will contribute to our warm and friendly atmosphere as we ensure a comfortable and relaxing environment for our senior residents. You will build excitement and awareness of our Retirement Community while you coordinate, plan and attend community events sponsored by us to cultivate relationships with key community stakeholders.As a Community Relations Coordinator your typical day will involve the following;

  • Develop and implement annual sales and marketing plans that will introduce and bring the community influencers, private health care providers, families, eligible older adults as well as any potential referral sources on-site to initiate contact with the residence.
  • Work closely with the General Manager and Leadership Team to help move the sale forward and use team approach to increase the number of prospects that become residents.
  • Keep updated and maintain an accurate databased of prospects.
  • Monitor the residence’s wait list to ensure vacancies are promptly addressed and prospects on the wait list are regularly communicated with.
  • Review the status of the resident population on a regular basis with General Manager and Director of Wellness to proactively work on potential vacancies.
  • Create an outreach plan for the year and manage the marketing budget.
  • Research, plan, budget and coordinate the execution of on-site and off-site marketing events that attract prospects and referral sources.
  • Review competition availability, status and offerings on an annual basis or as required.
  • Share with Leadership what to showcase during a tour of the community, ensure that all team leaders can conduct a tour. Ensure model suites and guest suites are in proper order and always ready for tours.
  • Have a tour ready binder available at both concierge and wellness office for afterhours calls/walk-ins
  • Book and conduct tours of the residence with prospects, family and community influencers.
  • Conduct prompt and appropriate follow-up on all visits and inquiries. Follow the set out mandate of 2-1-1 to maximize on all opportunities available to have potential clients become a residents.
  • Complete appropriate paperwork, create file that is shared with management team, ensure that all aspects of move-in are communicated with Leadership team and that the suite is move-in ready
  • Keep the General Manager apprised on community issues or concerns
To match our Qualifications, you will possess
  • Graduate of a post-secondary sales and marketing program or related programs.
  • Minimum of 2 years of sales and/ or customer service preferably in the seniors/ hospitality industry.
  • Demonstrated understanding of/empathy for the needs of older adults.
  • Experience in participating in developing, implementing sales and/or marketing plans, campaigns and internal/external events.
  • Experience in managing budgets.
  • Knowledge of trends and best practices of Retirement sector.
  • Experience with Customer Relationship Management systems.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with community partners/stakeholders
  • Strong communication skills with fluency in English
  • Strong Organizational Skills
  • Access to a vehicle and valid driver’s license
  • Previous employment in a retirement/hospitality setting an asset.
