Job Description

Legacy Co-operative Association Limited is seeking a dynamic HR Manager. Reporting to the General Manager (GM), the HR Manager is a key member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and an advisor, critical thinker, and strategic business partner to all division and retail managers, employees, and HR team members. Working from the Yorkton office, the HR Manager will also service retails located in Kamsack, Churchbridge, Ebenezer and Theodore, (requiring limited travel) and provides contracted services to other Co-operative retails.Key Responsibilities:

  • provides a broad range of HR services and support; including but not limited to; recruitment/retention, performance management, training, employee and labour relations, organizational development, attendance/disability management, engagement, incentive/recognition programs, succession planning, policy development/interpretation and administration, corrective discipline, investigations, organizational structure and job design, change management and payroll and benefit administration.
  • provides leadership, advice, guidance, and creative solutions with and for the GM, division and retail managers on all HR related issues to help managers understand and address the people implications of business decisions.
  • works with managers to develop people solutions that help optimize business results and achieve strategic and operational goals and objectives.
  • work with and develop managers to coordinate, understand and execute HR responsibilities in a productive and accountable manner.
  • provide guidance and advice on HR best practices ensuring the consistent application of HR policies and practices.
  • develop and maintain positive and trustworthy relationships with all managers and employees ensuring confidentiality is maintained.
  • ensures the HR Department responds to requests for support in an effective and timely manner.
  • ability to implement and contribute to ongoing initiatives to improve processes and best practices that support the strategic direction, operations, and organizational priorities.
Position Requirements:
  • A degree in Business Administration or Commerce, focused on Human Resources or another related/equivalent field, plus a minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible HR experience.
  • Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation and previous retail experience considered an asset.
  • Strong strategic focus as well as conflict resolution, problem solving abilities, and coaching skills.
  • Excellent computer skills with a sound knowledge and adaptability to HR systems and processes including but not limited to applicant tracking/recruiting systems, HR metrics, and payroll/benefit solutions.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of a broad scope of human resources best practices, policies, principles, trends, and procedures.
  • Applied knowledge regarding labour relations in a unionized environment to support and contribute to positive labour relations, including the ability to interpret and apply the Collective Agreement.
  • Understanding and knowledge with relation to all relevant provincial legislation, HR policies and procedures and the ability to advise managers of such (e.g., Employment/Human Rights/OHS/ Arbitral and Common law applications/decisions and precedents).
  • Understanding of talent acquisition and adult learning principles.
  • Strong communication, consultation, and facilitation skills.
