Occupational Health Officer - OCC000400Employment Type: Permanent Full-timeLocation(s): SK-Central East-YorktonMinistry: 020 Labour Relations and Workplace SafetySalary Range: $33.361 - $41.805 HourlyGrade: SGEU.10.The Occupational Health and Safety Division of the Ministry of Labour Relations and Workplace Safety is recruiting an Occupational Health Officer in the Health Care Unit for the Yorkton area. This role will promote and enforce compliance with The Saskatchewan Employment Act, and regulations focusing on health care sectors. Preference will be given to applicants with experience in the primary health care industry.This position involves travel throughout southern Saskatchewan to:inspect workplaces;perform first on scene inspections of fatalities and serious injuries, evening and weekend response will be required;support workplace occupational health committees and worker representatives;educate and advise workers and employers on health and safety matters; andhelp resolve disputes over occupational health and safety concerns.Your success will be reinforced by significant knowledge and experience in the fundamentals of healthy and safe work places, safety techniques and requirements, and principles and processes of injury and illness prevention in workplaces. The position will require the successful candidate to demonstrate the Ministry’s core values, such as honesty and integrity.Typically, the knowledge and abilities required for this position would be obtained through the completion of a degree, diploma in nursing, primary or advanced care paramedic or a related medical field with practical experience in the health care sector, combined with accredited training and 3 years of experience in occupational health and safety.A valid class 5 driver’s license is required and drivers abstract may be requested.We are committed to workplace diversity.Hours of Work: B - SGEU Field 37.33 - one day off every three weeksNumber of Openings: 1Closing Date: Jun 21, 2021, 12:59:00 AM
