Traffic Guidance Manager - VEH002863Employment Type: Permanent Full-timeLocation(s): SK-Central East-YorktonMinistry: 016 HighwaysSalary Range: $6,408 - $8,330 MonthlyGrade: MCP.06.The Ministry of Highways is committed to providing an integrated transportation system supporting economic growth and prosperity for Saskatchewan citizens.The Ministry of Highways is seeking a highly motivated and energetic Traffic Guidance Manager within the Traffic Guidance Operations to oversee the Provincial Pavement Marking and Signing Programs in the Yorkton area. You will be responsible for managing and maintaining the branch work plan as well as assuring compliance with the ministry/branch goals and objectives, all while adhering to established policies and procedures. You will supervise and provide guidance and leadership to a team within your assigned geographic area and will coach, mentor, and provide oversight on the daily activities of the unit.As Traffic Guidance Manager, reporting to the Director, you will be responsible to:

  • Plan, schedule and deliver the pavement marking and signing programs within your geographic area
  • Manage the budget within your assigned area
  • Identify, modify, and implement provincial policies, standards, operational procedures, methodologies and strategies to meet the needs of the ministry
  • Coordinate the traffic guidance work with other programs including both internal and external resources
  • Manage the fleet within your area, determine needs and assign equipment and materials where they will be most effectively utilized
  • Negotiate contracts with consultants and contractor services and execute within your assigned area
  • Participate in the management of the testing procedures for all pavement marking materials purchased by the ministry
  • Protection of employees in volatile situations and the general public in accordance with the Saskatchewan Employment Act, Saskatchewan Occupational Health & Safety Regulations, Highway Traffic Act and the Ministry of Highways Occupational Health & Safety policies and departmental procedures.
In order to be successful in this position, you will have demonstrated knowledge of:
  • Concepts, principals, standards, and practices used in transportation infrastructure design, construction, and management
  • Statistical analysis methods and computer applications such as spreadsheets, databases, and geographic information systems
  • Concepts and principals of project management
  • Business planning, accountability practices, and systems management
Candidates must possess a valid Class 5 drivers license. This position involves travel throughout the area, requiring the individual to be away from home up to 25 percent or more.Typically, the competencies required for this position would be obtained through the completion of a Civil Engineering Technologist Diploma, Engineering Degree, with several years of work experience.
