EMPLOYMENTOPPORTUNITY Youth Reintegration Caseworker-TermThe Yorkton Tribal Council invites applications for one (1) highly motivated individual for the position of Youth Reintegration Caseworker. The successful candidate will work under the Director of the Justice and will be responsible for but not limited to the following duties:DUTIES: · The Youth Reintegration Caseworker works in the member First Nations of their respective regions.· The Youth Reintegration Caseworker is responsible for the Youth of, Cote First Nation, The Key First Nation, Keeseekoose First Nation, Kahkewistahaw First nation, Zagime Anishinabek, Ocean man First Nation and the Aboriginal community within and around the City of Yorkton.· Build relationships with youth by maintaining weekly contact.· Establish connections to home communities, families, elders, recreation and other appropriate programming.· Work in conjunction with the Community and Custody Youth Workers to identify areas of need for the youth, family, and community.· Consult with Elders Program (in facility or community) and/or the Community Justice Committee (if available) to develop an intervention plan with an emphasis on First Nations culture and practices.· Establish connection to service organizations that will sustain support to the youth and family upon the conclusion of the Reintegration and Cultural Programming.· Responsible for the case plans of confidentiality requirements with respect to the delivery of Justice services in respective areas.· Other job-related duties as assigned by the Director of Justice or designate.QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge about the culture and traditions of the First Nations Communities to which they would be providing service. Preference would be given to a First Nations candidate with a cultural background of or similar to that of an YTC member bands.
  • Preference would be given to a post secondary degree or certificate in social Work, Human Justice or Community Development. Consideration will be given to a combination of some post secondary years of education and years of experience.
  • Certificate in Victim Offender Medication, Resolving Conflict Constructively or Community Justice Forums would be an asset.
  • Must be knowledgeable and have an interest in the Canadian Justice System with regards to First Nation/Aboriginal Justice reform. Knowledge of developmental needs of youth, community development, and community justice programs.
  • Must have strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Must have knowledge of computers and required software.
  • The ability to work independently is a definite requirement.
  • Must be willing to travel. Must possess a valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle and must maintain both during the period of employment.
  • Knowledge of First Nations language, culture and social issues would be a definite asset.
