Huawei Canada has an immediate 12-month contract opening for a Principal Researcher.About the team:The Technology Planning and Cooperation Department promotes strategic innovation across all of Huawei Canada. Working with fellow experts, the focus is researching new and upcoming areas of technology as well as strategic planning to help achieve long term vision of Huawei. This department offers a unique opportunity to leverage both technical and business skills.About the job:

• Seek and plan technology innovations in emerging topics, help influence research and development efforts in future computing, computing software stack, AI foundation models and future devices.
• Develop insights and thought leadership through in-depth study and analysis, participating industrial and academic events and forums, and participating internal technology and strategy discussions.
• As a key individual contributor, you are responsible for exploring and defining the technology landscape, trends and frontiers that will have significant impact to the industry and Huawei’s business in mid-term and long-term.
• Contribute to technology strategy and technology development charters for company’s technology competitiveness and readiness in the future.

• Develop research directions and topics to advance state of art knowledge and insights on subject matters.

The target annual compensation (based on 2080 hours per year) ranges from $121,000 - $230,000 depending on education, experience and demonstrated expertise.About the ideal candidate:

• 10+ years of experience with strong technology curiosity.
• A Master’s or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science/Engineering, or a related field.
• Proficient in studying state-of-the-art research work and developing new ideas.
• Deep knowledge of computing, networking, system software, Cloud computing, and related industries.
• Driven and passion for technology and innovation, self-starter.
