Job Description

Conair is the largest, privately owned, fixed-wing aerial firefighting company in the world, operating a fleet of 70 specialized aircraft to fight forest fires. We have been supporting government agencies around the globe for over 50 years, with a reputation for providing service excellence, making us an industry leader. We are aerospace engineering experts, creating 15 different airtanker types, converting hundreds of aircraft into airtankers. We are aviation maintenance experts, performing repair, maintenance, and overhaul on our fleet. And we are operators, providing airtankers, crew and maintenance on contract over fire seasons to government agencies including Canada, the US, Australia, and France. We are proud of who we are, what we do and how we do it, protecting our world from wildfires.We currently have an opening for a full-time permanent AME-M Apprentice position with the Operations team.Reporting to the Lead Hand, Base Engineer and/or Fleet Manager the AME Apprentice works in a supervised environment and performs aircraft maintenance, repair, inspection and modification as suitable to their level of experience. This includes working in our hangers in Abbotsford as well as deployments to support our operational Aerial Firefighting fleet in the field.In this role your duties will include the following:

  • Supervised aircraft maintenance, repair, inspection and modification;
  • Adhering to Conair safety regulation, policies and procedures while performing their duties;
  • Acts as a team player while assisting fellow employees in the performance of their duties in a professional and courteous manner;
  • Maintains the Conair O.J.T. log book and keeps the T.C. log book up to date;
  • At the end of their apprenticeship program (in a timely manner) begin working towards acquiring a T.C. license;
  • Accept field assignments that could require being away for long periods of time;
  • Basic knowledge of Conair information technology system as related to their learner level.
We are looking for someone with:
  • Knowledge of aircraft services and the maintenance required to assist in maintaining the aircraft in a serviceable and airworthy condition;
  • Knowledge of safety measures required within the workplace;
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to change;
  • Ability to take instruction; listen and follow direction;
  • Skilled in working with tools, sheet metal, and mechanical and power machinery;
  • Ability to work professionally within a team environment while promoting and maintaining a positive work atmosphere;
  • Knowledge of CARs as related to aircraft maintenance.
Training/Education:
  • Grade 12 diploma;
  • Successful completion of AME category M training course from a Transport Canada Approved Training Organisation.
  • Mechanical experience or aptitude is required;
  • Advancement based on satisfactory performance.
