Job Summary:The External Liaison Coordinator will embed work-integrated learning (WIL) opportunities into academic experiences, and programs and course design across various programs within the College of Arts. This includes engaging in curriculum re-design, by working with faculty in various disciplines.The coordinator will foster relationships with external stakeholders to expand, plan, facilitate, and sustain work-integrated learning (WIL) opportunities for Arts students, and ensure that academic programs meet the needs of the regional communities that UFV serves.The External Liaison Coordinator will collaborate with the Centre for Experiential and Career Education (CECE) to promote various opportunities for students including work integrated learning.The position will also assist the Dean and departments/schools in the College of Arts in their liaison with external stakeholders for the purpose of enhancing the College’s programs.The successful candidate:Provides analysis and advice on alignment of curriculum with needs of external stakeholders. This may entail active participation in curriculum renewal work, as requested by Departments and Schools.Coordinates outreach curricular activities; pro-actively identify opportunities and assist with the creation, coordination, and facilitation of work integrated and experiential learning related academic assignments, projects, or events.Liaises with the Centre for Experiential and Career Education (CECE) on administration of placements and other services that CECE offers.Identifies potential partnerships with community organizations and employers with the goal of securing work-integrated learning placement opportunities for students.Oversees the establishment of External Program Advisory (EPA) Committees across the College of Arts.Identifies partnerships with other post-secondary institutions, in liaison with relevant institutional partners (Vice-Provost, International, Registrar, and Indigenous Affairs, as relevant).Work with the Dean’s office, Departments and Schools to secure external funding, liaising as appropriate with institutional partners (Advancement, REGS, Vice-President External). This may entail assisting with managing and delivering on successful grants.Collaborate with CECE to record, track and report experiential and work integrated learning activity data by Department and School (and, as needed, in alignment with external funding reporting requirements). This may include working with Institutional Research.Maintains webpages and systems, in collaboration with CECE as appropriate.Assist with Arts events that involve external stakeholders, as needed.Assist with special projects, as needed.Advise the Dean on opportunities for stakeholder engagement.Qualifications:Masters-level degree from an accredited program in the Humanities or Social Sciences (Doctorate preferred).Proven success in developing and maintaining positive working relationships with internal and external partners.Excellent written and oral communication skills, including website writing, editing and marketing and promotions.Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work creatively and effectively as a member of a team.A high-level service commitment and flexibility and willingness to assume a variety of assignments.Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, manage competing priority, meet deadlines, stay current and adapt to change.Working knowledge of work-integrated learning curriculum and programming design and implementation.Ability to recognize, respect, and work effectively with individuals and groups with diverse perspectives and backgrounds. Demonstrated knowledge of issues related to equity and inclusion.Ability to develop and maintain cooperative and productive working relationships and engage in workplace culture.Committed to demonstrating respect for colleagues at every level by trusting in their abilities and knowledge to perform their roles and earning respect through meeting commitments.Models and demonstrates good communication through active listening and appreciative inquiry and open to providing and receiving timely, constructive feedback.Listens to, encourages, and expresses creative and innovative ideas.
