Job Description

Otter Co-op is now accepting applications for a Part-Time Door Person for our Highwayman Pub located in Abbotsford, BC. Who we are:Otter Co-op is a diverse and growing organization, serving the Lower Mainland, Fraser Valley and BC Interior since 1922. With over 100 years in business and over 1000 in our team, we are proud to be a locally owned and community minded member of the neighbourhoods we live, work and play in. We operate three food and pharmacy stores (including one with a fashion and hardware department), thirty-one Angry Otter liquor stores, two feed mills, two bulk petroleum facilities, the Angry Otter Tapamp; Forno and Brewery in North Vancouver, the Highwayman Pub in Abbotsford, the Sawbucks pub in South Surrey and twenty-five gas station/convenience stores. To learn more about who we are and how you can help bring our brand to life, visit us at www.otterco-op.crs.What you’ll do:Reporting to the General Manager of the Pub, responsibilities for this position include the following:

  • Greet and engage positively with guests as they enter and leave the premise.
  • Conduct ID checks in compliance with the Liquor License requirements.
  • Complete headcount in accordance with the legal capacity of all service areas within the pub.
  • Provide regular updates to the GM or bartender regarding capacity limits.
  • Monitor guests and be aware of any potential issues that may arise.
  • Provide conflict resolution and support both the guests and team when required.
  • Ensure Serving It Right standards are adhered to at all times and notify management should there be concerns.
  • Promote safe work practices with other team members.
  • Take ownership to ensure the pub remain neat and tidy.
  • Support the team in other areas during busy times (grabbing ice, clearing tables etc.).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • You are looking for a career in the Food Service, liquor and retail Industry as well as.
  • Have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Basic Security Training (BST) license.Willing to complete their BST within 90 days.
  • Previous experience as a door guard, security guard in fast paced pub/restaurant environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external guests in a polite and engaging manner.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Conflict resolution skills.
  • Able to work varying shifts and times, including afternoons, evenings, and weekends.
  • This is a physical job requiring the ability to stand for long periods of time and lift, push, pull up to 50 lbs. on occasion.
  • Must be committed to a SAFE working environment
  • Must have open availability and be able to work a variety of shifts 7 days a week
  • This position is based at the Highwayman Pub, though it may require on some occasions to travel and work at other locations as business needs arise.
