The incumbent will work in close cooperation with local emergency response organizations to coordinate services and supports of Abbotsford residents who have been impacted by a local/provincial emergencies.Responsibilities

  • Engages with internal and community partners such as Archway Food Bank, Archway Multicultural Services, United Way, Salvation Army, Red Cross, City of Abbotsford Emergency Response Dept etc.
  • Support individuals and families in coordination of relief efforts. This may include the following: grant applications, housing, and food security, insurance/emergency relief funding etc.
  • Provides information and referrals to impacted clients seeking specific services.
  • Collaboration with a clinical counsellor regarding conversation groups for people wanting to process the disaster.
  • Responds to inquiries from individuals seeking support or information
Requirements and qualificationsEducation and Certification:
  • Satisfactory Criminal Records Check.
  • Must have a minimum of a Diploma in the Social Services field or relevant experience working within a non-profit forum
Experience:
  • Preference given to applicant with experience in the human services field and a knowledge of support services in Abbotsford.
Knowledge and Skill Set
  • Understanding of the emergency support systems both locally, provincially, and federally
WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Driving
