Job Description

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Designer/Modeler is responsible for assisting and coordinating various new design initiatives and design for manufacturing projects within the Trailer Division at Magnum Trailer and Equipment.CORE DUTIESamp; RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participates in team design and brainstorming sessions
  • Develops novel design concepts for custom trailers and related equipment
  • Designs/Models detail parts and assemblies using SolidWorks software
  • Prepares and reviews engineering drawings
  • Prepare and review complete purchasing and shop packages
  • Researches materials and manufacturing methods
  • Documentation of engineering, testing procedures, results, and analyses
OTHER DUTIESamp; RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Analyze and document current processes
  • Identify manufacturing process improvements, including cost benefit analysis to justify expenses
  • Manage changes to the various manufacturing designs related to planned improvements
  • Work with shop floor personnel to determine best practices and procedures
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies
  • Establish standardization practices within operations
  • Perform work in accordance with Magnums’ documented policies and procedures
  • Complete all applicable quality records
  • Support BOM creation and maintenance in the ERP system
  • Perform other duties and tasks as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Mechanical engineering designer / technologist with 2-3 years experience
  • Familiarity with manufacturing/trucking industry an asset
  • Ability to communicate both verbalamp; written in the English language
  • A proven track record designing in Solid Works
  • Working knowledge of ERP software packages an asset
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite
  • Able to work under pressure and tight deadlines
  • Exceptional organizational abilities
