In addition to this, you will be held accountable to provide an exceptional guest experience in the field and at various CMH facilities. You will be responsible for assisting with the supervision, training, and mentoring of our Apprentice Ski Guides to ensure that they demonstrate effective risk management while meeting expectations surrounding the guest experience. Working as a cohesive team, you will be expected to train and mentor less experienced guides with all guiding related skills.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesManage conduct in the mountains for yourself and all people entrusted to your care in a manner that minimizes risk while maximizing the guest experienceClear ability to exercise sound risk management skills with safe decision makingBe respectful, friendly, and courteous interacting with all guests. Ensure their safety, comfort, and enjoyment on and off the hill. Be sensitive to individual needs while respecting personal space and learning needsDemonstrate excellent communication and teamwork skills involved with guiding, aviation, management, and all CMH staffAssist with the supervising, training, and mentoring of Apprentice Ski GuidesDevelop interpersonal and language skills to communicate effectively with guests and other guides. Give clear instructions at the appropriate time and use supplementary skills to host and entertain where appropriateBe physically fit and mentally well prepared to be able to effectively perform the duties of a guideCome prepared for meetings to provide knowledgeable, appropriate, and focused feedback to help the guiding team analyze and effectively manage hazards and risk, and to provide a suitable and enjoyable ski program. Exercise authority, at any time, to veto any decision which, in your judgment, may compromise safetyProvide coaching to staff and guests, as neededFamiliarize yourself with the terrain by asking questions during guide meetings and by studying both winter and summer run photosHave a thorough working knowledge and competence in all technical systems associated with the operation. Participate in annual trainings to refresh and upgrade these skillsBe thoroughly familiar with all written CMH procedures and guidelines that govern the operation, and always act in accordance with themMaintain, and where possible, upgrade your certifications with the professional associations and agencies relevant to the tradeSupply personal gear and mountain equipment as needed.
