In addition to this, you will be held accountable to provide an exceptional guest experience in the field and at various CMH facilities. You will be responsible for assisting with the supervision, training, and mentoring of our Apprentice Ski Guides to ensure that they demonstrate effective risk management while meeting expectations surrounding the guest experience. Working as a cohesive team, you will be expected to train and mentor less experienced guides with all guiding related skills.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesManage conduct in the mountains for yourself and all people entrusted to your care in a manner that minimizes risk while maximizing the guest experienceClear ability to exercise sound risk management skills with safe decision makingBe respectful, friendly, and courteous interacting with all guests. Ensure their safety, comfort, and enjoyment on and off the hill. Be sensitive to individual needs while respecting personal space and learning needsDemonstrate excellent communication and teamwork skills involved with guiding, aviation, management, and all CMH staffAssist with the supervising, training, and mentoring of Apprentice Ski GuidesDevelop interpersonal and language skills to communicate effectively with guests and other guides. Give clear instructions at the appropriate time and use supplementary skills to host and entertain where appropriateBe physically fit and mentally well prepared to be able to effectively perform the duties of a guideCome prepared for meetings to provide knowledgeable, appropriate, and focused feedback to help the guiding team analyze and effectively manage hazards and risk, and to provide a suitable and enjoyable ski program. Exercise authority, at any time, to veto any decision which, in your judgment, may compromise safetyProvide coaching to staff and guests, as neededFamiliarize yourself with the terrain by asking questions during guide meetings and by studying both winter and summer run photosHave a thorough working knowledge and competence in all technical systems associated with the operation. Participate in annual trainings to refresh and upgrade these skillsBe thoroughly familiar with all written CMH procedures and guidelines that govern the operation, and always act in accordance with themMaintain, and where possible, upgrade your certifications with the professional associations and agencies relevant to the tradeSupply personal gear and mountain equipment as needed. Always carry the required safety equipment as outlined in the CMH Mountain Operations Manual. Maintain equipment as necessary to ensure functionality. Treat equipment issued to you with due care and return when requestedMinimum QualificationsACMG Ski or Snowboard guide, or IFMGA Mountain Guide, or CSGA Level 3Level 2 Ski Instructor or equivalent, preferredCAA Level 2, preferredWCB Avalanche Control Blaster’s Certification, preferred3 seasons of experience as a Heli-Ski Guide, preferredExperience with ski programs that involve helicopters, preferredCompetencies, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other QualitiesDemonstrates integrity, discretion, critical thinking, adaptability, and effective problem solvingIs organized with clear attention-to-detailAble to communicate at a high level in a clear, effective, and timely mannerAble to prioritize tasks and responsibilities in a complex and fast-paced environment with workload fluctuations and changing prioritiesTrustworthy, goal-oriented, respectful, and self-directed in completing the core functions of the roleConfidence to interact with all levels of the company in a hub-and-spoke model in which many employees are remote, as well as having the confidence to interact with guests from all backgrounds, joining us from around the worldStrong sense of work ethic and accountability, with an ability to function well in a team environment and focus on team successA willingness to learn and develop skills with on-the-job training and mentoringWorking ConditionsAble to lift, carry, or otherwise move and position up to 40 pounds on a regular basisAble to work in the outdoors for extended periods of time in varied conditionsManual dexterity to operate a computer and other common office equipment on an occasional basisThis position is required to work on weekends and holidays, based on the needs of the businessThis position is based at a remote site and shift work is required.
