Service Design SpecialistInformation Systems R24There is currently 1 position available. We offer flexible work arrangements, including the opportunity to volunteer to telework (with conditions) as set out in applicable employer policies. The locations listed above are to assist applicants in searching for this opportunity. The opportunity:
  • You will work with a multi-disciplinary team to provide expertise and creative solutions to service design, user experience design and digital services. You lead user research and work to reorient organizations and services around user needs. This position works closely with a product team to build an end-to-end, and front (user experience) to back (organizational systems) understanding of government services.
  • You will collaborate with ministry program leads to define, implement, and measure service design projects, often in support of major change initiatives. You are adept with digital services and work with both technical and non-technical teams. You may also facilitate training workshops and provide input into corporate service design guides and resources. You visualize concepts and create prototypes on a regular basis on paper or in HTML.
The service:
  • You will work as part of the Pathfinder Single Sign-On Team. Our team works collaboratively to build products and services which enable Government digital delivery teams to get single sign-on login options for their applications. We partner with BC Government identity providers like IDIR, BCeID, BC Services Card. You will support our team by contributing and supporting the design and delivery of our these services.

  • Degree in Information Technology/Information Management, Service Design, User Experience (UX) Design, Interaction Design, Computer Science, or related field with 2 years *related experience; OR
  • Diploma in Information Technology/Information Management, Service Design, User Experience (UX) Design, Interaction Design, Computer Science, or related field with 3 years *related experience; OR
  • An equivalent combination of related experience and education may be considered.
  • Related Experience must include:
  • Experience in one of the following: user experience design, user research, interaction design, prototyping, information architecture, or content strategy.
  • Experience in utilizing user-centred design methods to design and deliver services.
  • Experience in facilitating client meetings and user research, including one-on-one interviews, ideation workshops, and usability testing
Preference may be given to candidates with the following:
  • Minimum 2 years in a Service Design role.
  • Experience in at least three of the following: user experience design, user research, interaction design, prototyping, information architecture, or content strategy.
  • Experience working with an Agile Product Team which consists of Product Managers, Software Developers, DevOps/Site Reliability Specialists, Scrum Masters, and other UX/Service Designers.
