Job Summary:The Manager, Student Life provides leadership, overall direction, planning and administration of Student Life. They promote and coordinate campus-wide engagement programming that emphasizes student growth and life skills development that encourages resiliency and retention.This position participates in defining strategic goals for Student Life and develops, implements, and maintains policies and procedures related to the delivery of services for students including the design, development, and facilitation of various elements of first-year transition programming.The manager oversees and maintains numerous budgets and funding sources that support the overall operation of Student Life. The manager liaises with internal and external partners and stakeholders to maintain and improve services to students. The manager reviews and analyzes survey results and provides insight and recommendations to the Associate Director, Student Affairs, to increase student engagement and retention.For more information see the Position Description link above.Qualifications:Undergraduate degree from a recognized post-secondary institution required.Five (5) years directly related experience in student engagement programming at the post-secondary level, including one (1) year experience managing teams.Understanding of Student Development Theory.Ability to effectively supervise and lead staff.Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively and to participate in consultative decision-making.Demonstrated skills in training and program evaluation.Excellent knowledge of MS Office, internet, and e-mail applications.Strong presentation and facilitation skills.Ability to learn new software.Strong organizational and event planning skills.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills, the ability to navigate challenging student situations.Demonstrated ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality.Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.About UFV:The University of the Fraser Valley is located on the traditional territory of the Halqeméylem-speaking peoples.
