Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW: Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Production Engineer is responsible for supervising and improving the production within the Accessories Division at Magnum Trailer and Equipment.CORE DUTIESamp; RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervising the manufacturing processes, ensuring quality work is done in a safe, efficient manner.
  • Identifying and carrying out projects to improve existing manufacturing capability, yields, and capacity
  • Analyzing all angles of production and making recommendations for improvement; Manage operating costs and drive reductions and optimizations where possible.
  • Identifying design improvements for DFMA and communicate effectively back to design team.
  • Reviewing the fixtures and jigs used in production and look for improvements to enhance production. Propose new jigs/ fixtures or other equipment to increase automation.
  • Establishing safety procedures and protocols that take the workers #39; well-being into account, and that also minimize the carbon footprint.
  • Participating in problem solving and/or goal setting activities of Operations department as circumstances warrant, providing assistance and expertise to identify root causes and resolve technical issues.
  • Ensure that Operations services and facilities are available to maintenance personnel and outside consultants, engineers, contractors, and other personnel and engage with them as issues arise to drive work efficiency.
  • Creating programs for the CNC Router using CAM Works and supporting the CNC Router Personnel.
  • Work with shop floor personal to determine best practices and procedures, analyze and document current processes.
OTHER DUTIESamp; RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Design detail parts and assemblies using SolidWorks software, as well as prepare and review engineering drawings.
  • Participates in team design and brainstorming sessions.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Establish standardization practices within operations.
  • Actively contribute and support configuration management practices.
  • Update Work Instructions as required.
  • Perform work in accordance with Magnums’ documented policies and procedures.
  • Complete all applicable quality records.
  • Support BOM creation and maintenance in the ERP system.
  • Conduct PFMEA meetings with internal and external customers.
  • Recommend process improvements based on FMEA requirements.
  • Update Engineering Masters as required by shop floor leads or instructed by the engineering manager.
  • Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Manufacturing/ Production Engineering Degree or Certified Engineering Technologist
  • 3+ years’ experience in process, production, or industrial engineering.
  • Proficiency in process design, analysis, troubleshooting, and optimization.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to develop and implement innovative engineered solutions.
  • Ability to communicate both verbalamp; written in the English language.
  • A proven track record designing in Solid Works.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite Proficient with computers and Microsoft programs.
  • Able to work under pressure and tight deadlines.
  • Exceptional organizational abilities.
  • Working knowledge of ERP software packages an asset.
OTHER SKILLS
  • Familiarity with manufacturing/trucking industry an asset.
  • Strong work ethic and customer caring attitude.
  • Able to contribute openly and effectively during team meetings.
