Job Description

CALGARY CATHOLIC IMMIGRATION SOCIETYPOSITION DESCRIPTIONPosition Title: TFW Case WorkerResponsible to: Program ManagerDivision: Business, Training and Employment ServicesDate Revised: February 2022Functional Statement:As a part of a Prairie-Region wide project to support Temporary Foreign Workers (TFWs) affected by COVID-19, the TFW Case Worker provides client-centred services to address the needs of TFWs in Southern Alberta. Duties include delivering group information and orientation sessions, community connection, case management, support delivery and referrals to meet the basic essential needs of temporary workers who have been affected by COVID-19.Responsibilities:

  • Identify and respond to the immediate needs of TFWs affected by COVID-19 outbreaks on a case-by-case basis by conducting an initial needs assessment and developing a customized action plan to support clients.
  • Provide enhanced services for TFWs remotely or in person, as well as through a variety of digital platforms, and at key employer jobsites.
  • Produce powerful strategies that lead to client engagement, behaviour change and attendance to events and information sessions.
  • Provide relevant, individualized referrals to clients and conduct timely follow- ups to assess if the clients needs have been met effectively.
  • Deliver tailored plain-language information and orientation sessions on issues that affect TFWs, such as COVID-19 public health and safety guidance, in the clients preferred language.
  • Facilitate interpretation and translation services to clients, service providers
and employers.
  • Transcribe and enter client information to the database for accurate record keeping, administering client feedback surveys, and submitting regular reports on program activities and deliverables.
  • Identify outreach opportunities and mechanisms in consultation with support service providers, migrant workers, ethno-cultural, faith communities and union groups.
  • Perform outreach in the targeted communities to build on existing partnerships and create a network of support for TFWs in the local area.
  • Leverage existing partnerships and create new ones to facilitate direct access to holistic support, system navigation and referrals for TFWs and employers
Qualifications:
  • Post-Secondary Degree and/or Diploma in Social Work, Human Services, Social
Sciences, Education or related fields is preferred.
  • Previous experience working with newcomer populations, especially
Temporary Foreign Workers, considered a strong asset.
  • Knowledge of community programs, services, and government resources in relation to COVID-19 considered a strong asset.
  • Excellent workshop facilitation and presentation skills, time management and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be someone who has a positive attitude, is flexible, reliable, proactive, accountable, and takes initiative.
  • Must have strong organizational skills and possess the ability to perform duties independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • The ability to communicate in an additional language(s) is considered an asset.
  • Computer literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Office programs is required.
  • Available to work flexible/irregular hours including evenings and weekends
  • Preferably a resident of Southern Alberta as driving throughout that region is required.
  • Current valid drivers license and access to a reliable vehicle.
