Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Pastry Production Lead (Spring 2022) to join our vibrant team in preparing a variety of our delicious handpies. Were on a mission to make handheld comfort food for fuelling epic adventures near and abroad. Using excellent local ingredients, our highly skilled culinary team make delicious savoury pies in Albany, Prince Edward Island.What You’ll Do:

• Manufacture handpies to strict quality standards while maintaining stock levels;
• Follow standardized recipes for dough production;
• Assist with ordering raw ingredients to ensure production meets stock level requirements;
• Pace production levels to set the tone for pastry assistants;
• Identify opportunities to improve workflow efficiencies to meet our growing production needs;
• Manage assistants and lead by example by demonstrating work ethic, adherence to quality, respectful communications, with a dose of good humour;
• Maintain clear communication with other departments to maintain flow of product through all stages of production and packaging;
• Following strict safety and hygiene protocols and ensuring that the team adheres to them as well.

Qualifications:

• Pastry arts training preferred but will consider equivalent industry experience;
• Current food safety certificate or willing to re-certify upon successful application;
• Experience in commercial food preparation is ideal (but not essential);
• Ability to stand for extended periods, bend, lift up to 50 lbs, and perform repetitive manual tasks to exacting standards;
• Completion of high school or equivalent.
