We are located 50 km southwest of Williams Lake in Alkali Lake, BC. The Sxoxomic Community School enrolls 63 students from kindergarten to Grade 9. Students and families are also welcomed into a dynamic and supportive learning community that extends outside of the classroom walls.Necessary Qualifications :The successful applicant will work under the supervision of the Principal of the SchoolCompletion of a recognized Education Assistant course and/or an ECE trained workerExperience and/or training working with groups of children in a school or other educational settingTraining and experience with students challenging behaviorsDemonstrated ability to employ effective behavior management techniquesPhysically capable of performing all duties of the jobWhat we require:Under the direction of the teacher, provide educational assistance in learning activities for studentsWorking one on one and in small groupsAssist with school supervision before and after school and during recess and lunch breakShare information with student support team to support design of IEP’s, learning activities and transition plansCultural and ability sensitive as well as trauma informedPatience and understanding while managing children with diverse learning needsUses adapted strategies/activities to accommodate individual learner needs/stylesCarries out work within developed structures and plans and records progress notes from observations and one-to-one experienceReviews/reinforces learning activities using lesson plans and learning strategies developed by the teacher and/or the learning support teamDocuments, monitors and reports to teacher on program/strategy implementationsImplements specific techniques and monitors effectiveness of workplace settings and reports concerns to teacher/administratorWill be flexible to work within the entire school setting when unscheduled changes ariseHas valid BC Drivers License (Class 5) or NKnowledge of First Nations Culture and working in a First Nations community is an assetQuick Apply
