This is accomplished across four geographic management zones which are responsible for the operation of acute care health centres and the provision of a variety of inpatient, outpatient services including academic, tertiary, quaternary care and community based programs and services including continuing care, primary health care, public health, and mental health and addictions.ResponsibilitiesThe Autism Skills Worker (ASW) with the Early Intensive Behavioural Interventional Clinical Intervention (EIBI) Program works under the direct supervision of the EIBI Clinical Interventionist (CI) who is a master’s prepared Psychologist, Speech Language-Pathologist, Board Certified Behavioural Interventionist or Occupational Therapist, with oversight by the Mental Health & Addictions Manager. The ASW provides direct early intensive services to young children with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and their family. Working as a member of an Interdisciplinary team, the EIBI ASW provides evidenced-based interventions Pivotal Response Treatment (PRT) and/or Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) and Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) for children and their families in their natural environments including home and daycares.QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Child Studies or equivalent degree with supporting courses in child developmentOne (1) year experience in interventions with pre-school aged children required. Specific experience with young children with ASD preferred.Demonstrated understanding of family-centred care and limits of competencyDemonstrated ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary and interagency teams in a variety of settingsExcellent oral and written communication skillsExcellent interpersonal skills working with multi-level health provider disciplinesExcellent time management skills, high degree of initiativeExcellent organizational skillsAbility to take direction and implement intervention plans.Excellent observation and problem solving skillsFirst Aid and CPR certification and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention an assetDemonstrated ability to be an effective change agent with good team building skillsDemonstrated ability to accept and use constructive criticism for personal and professional growth.Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team and across agencies.Ability to think creatively, critically and solve complex problemsValues diversity, social inclusion and team workKnowledge of and ability to operate word processing applications, electronic mail, spread sheets, and internetEmployees are responsible to access training, education and awareness of safety (occupational health and safety and patient safety annuallyValid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle is required.Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferredSuccessful Applicants are required to provide a Criminal Record Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search) and a Child Abuse Registry to People Services before starting employment and assume any associated costs as a condition of employmentPLEASE NOTE: Applicants will be screened on the above qualifications.
