It provides high-quality, efficient care to residents of Amherst and surrounding areas as well as specialty services for residents of Cumberland County. Located in Upper Nappan just on the outskirts of Amherst, CRHCC offers a wide range of programs and services including primary and secondary services through in-patient, outpatient, and satellites:Services:ambulatory careanesthesiologycancer and supportive carecardiac respiratory serviceschronic pain servicesdiabetes education servicesdiagnostic imagingdietary and nutrition servicesemergency medicinegeneral medicineintensive care unitinternal medicinelaboratory servicesmedical and surgical unitmental health and addiction servicesobstetrics and gynecologyoccupational therapyotolaryngologypalliative carephysiotherapyvolunteer servicesResponsibilitiesResponsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • examine patients and take their histories, order diagnostic tests and laboratory procedures; advise patients on health care, health promotion, and disease prevention
  • consultation and referral to other medical practitioners’
  • act as a patient’s advocate
  • prescribe and administer medications and treatments, inoculations and vaccinations
  • report births, deaths, contagious and other diseases as per Nova Scotia Public Health requirement

Qualifications
  • eligible for Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS)
  • eligible for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)
  • Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
