Department: Community DevelopmentReports to: Manager of Community DevelopmentNumber of positions: OneHours: 35 hours per weekSalary: $35,500/year to $38,400/yearLanguages: EnglishEducation: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2years or equivalent experience. Applications with secondary school will also be considered.The Housing Support Worker will be responsible for coordinating Homelessness support, interventionand housing transition, develop and implement community support initiatives. This position is based inAmherst, however travel throughout Cumberland County is required.Activities include:Coordinated intake management (where feasible, and where numbers warrant it); client identification;intake and assessment focussing on the chronically and episodically homeless populations (e.g.developing client assessment tools); case management; maintaining data for reporting purposes.Working with the homeless and those at risk of homelessness; assisting clients find a suitable place tolive; using eviction prevention measures; and expanding on and utilizing a database of communityorganizations to use as support for clients. Identifying needs of the community and using partnerships tomeet those needs. Advocating with clients for servicesCommunity Development- develop and implement community support initiatives to further the YMCA’smission and vision. Build and foster community partnerships in the delivery of these initiatives whichmay include leading or participating on committees relevant to this position. Participating incoordinated access systems to ensure community collaboration.
