Job Description

Department: Community DevelopmentReports to: Chief Executive OfficerNumber of positions: OneHours: 40 hours per weekSalary: $40,000 - $44,000 annuallyAnticipated start date: Early July 2022Languages: EnglishEducation and Experience: Successful completion of a bachelor’s degree in social or human services,leadership/management or a related program.Ideally the candidate will have experience in the non-profit social services/community sector,specifically working with homeless and/or at-risk individuals. Any equivalent combination of education,training and experience which would provide the required knowledge and skills may be considered.Core competencies

The Manager of Community Development will be responsible for:
  • Ensuring the continuity of current relationships with community stakeholders.
  • Building and fostering new community partnerships in the delivery of Community Development
initiatives which may include leading or participating on committees relevant to this position.
  • Assessing gaps in program capacity and collaboratively developing programming to fill those
gaps in order to best support our community.
  • Representing the YMCA of Cumberland at community events and where necessary delivering
presentations.
  • Organizing department workflow and ensuring that employees understand their duties or
delegated tasks.
  • Supporting staff in the provision and expansion of community development services and
program.Cont’d
  • Setting goals for performance as well as program development and delivery that comply with
the YMCA’s mission and values.
  • Monitoring employee productivity and providing constructive feedback
  • Tracking employee timekeeping and personnel records including the preparation and
submission of performance appraisals.
  • Hiring and training of new employees.
  • Researching, writing and submitting grant applications to support programming opportunities as
well as the operational needs of the YMCA.
  • Being a contributing member of the YMCA of Cumberland’s senior management team.
  • Developing the annual budget for the Community Development department and ensuring
appropriate tracking of expenses and revenues.
  • Overseeing the YMCA’s Affordable Housing units.
  • Other duties as required.
Skills and requirements
  • Team player
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Excellent computer skills and a working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite
  • Familiarity with the social determinants of health and specifically the issues of homelessness
and poverty
  • Outstanding organizational and leadership skills
Security and Safety: Bondable, Criminal record check, Child abuse registry checkTransportation/Travel Information: Own vehicle, Willing to travel, Valid drivers licence.
